Media category added to Young Lions

Now winners in creative categories won't be the only ones entitled to roar.

A media category has been added to the Young Lions competition at this year’s Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, and the registration deadline has been extended to April 14.

The category is open to competitors in both traditional and non-traditional media planning, strategic planning and market research, and the judging criteria will be identical to those affecting other categories – with eligibility limited to those born after June 21, 1979.

Competitors must demonstrate their strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities under tight timelines. As this is a pilot year for the media category, the competition will be open to only 20 teams, with one spot guaranteed for a Canadian team.

To secure that spot and participate in the international competition at Cannes, a team must first win the Canadian Globe and Mail Young Lions Competition. Entries will be judged by a panel of award-winning Canadian advertising and marketing experts. One winner from each category will be sent to Cannes to represent Canada.
