Toronto-based Empire Communities is partnering with Bell to ask: ‘So You Think You Look Like A Movie Star?’ And it’s making the social networking scene, showing up in the right user-generated content places and hanging with media personalities.
Users must upload a photo of themselves at soyoulooklikeamoviestar.com and tag it with the name of the movie star they resemble. Each entrant can then post the link on social networking sites such as Facebook and share it to friends in order to generate votes. Visitors to the microsite can vote and rate contestants.
Empire EVP Paul Golini Jr. says the marketing program was ‘designed to speak directly to our target market through social networking forums that resonate with them. The concept is to create excitement about Fly Condos among our primary target market and to create an opportunity to promote the glamour of the lifestyle at Fly, which will be located close to renowned theatres, clubs and restaurants.’
The top 100 contestants will be invited to a gala for finalists on August 28, where celeb judges will select the top two. Judges include Rick Campenelli (ET Canada), Zain Meghji (eTalk), Andria Case (CTV), Shinan Govani (National Post) and Larysa Harapin (Citytv).
The contest’s grand prize is $75,000 toward a condo with Empire’s Fly community in downtown Toronto, second place prize is a Bell Better Home Entertainment package, along with a free Bell HD PVR, a 46-inch flat-screen TV, a home theatre system, a laptop computer and a cordless phone.
