Global takes 10 spots
BBM/Nielsen Top 30 – July 7-13, 2008

Dancing beats singing. CTV is still dominating more than half of the national Top 30, but Global secured 10 spots and the Ceeb took three.

Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for July 7-13, 2008.

News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm hit #4 with an average minute audience of 1.091 million viewers (up from 1.089 million on the previous week’s chart). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm took #17 with 805,000 (up from 793,000). CTV’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm hit #21 with 761,000 (up from 641,000). Global National at 5:30 pm took #24 with 688,000 (down from 709,000), while News Hour at 6 pm hit #26 with 665,000 (down from 718,000). CTV National News at 11 pm took #25 with 675,000 (down from 731,000). CBC’s National News at 10 pm hit #30 with 540,000 (down from 630,000).

Monday: CTV’s Canadian Idol, airing 8-9:30 pm, hit #2 with 1.308 million (up from its previous Monday-Tuesday average of 793,000). Global’s House at 9 pm took #6 with 1.02 million (down from 1.087 million), while Bones at 8 pm hit #11 with 916,000 (up from 901,000). CTV’s CSI: Miami at 10 pm took #16 with 817,000 (down from 1.034 million).

Tuesday: CTV’s Canadian Idol at 8 pm hit #9 with 957,000 viewers, while Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm took #10 with 930,000 (up from 823,000) and Criminal Minds at 9 pm climbed to #14 with 825,000 (up from 620,000). Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm hit #13 with 863,000 viewers, while the net’s Wipeout at 8 pm fell to #18 with 801,000 (down from 1.013 million).

Wednesday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance, airing 8-10 pm, hit #1 with 1.41 million viewers (up from 1.25 million), while the net’s CSI: New York at 10 pm took #5 with 1.078 million (down from 1.313 million). Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm hit #22 with 753,000 viewers.

Thursday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance at 9 pm hit #3 with 1.263 million viewers (down from 1.327 million), while Law & Order: CI at 10 pm took #7 with 998,000 (down from 1.158 million). The net’s CSI at 8 pm hit #15 with 825,000 (down from 1.008 million).

Friday: CTV’s Flashpoint at 10 pm hit #12 with 908,000 viewers (down from 1.108 million). The net’s CSI at 9 pm took #28 with 617,000 (up from 526,000), while Ghost Whisperer at 8 pm hit #29 with 588,000 (up from 530,000).

Saturday: CTV’s weekend evening news programming average for Saturday-Sunday at 6 pm put it at #20 on the national chart with 774,000 viewers (down from 772,000).

Sunday: Global’s Big Brother hit #8 with 976,000 viewers (down from 949,000). The CBC’s Sunday night movie took #19 with 791,000. Global’s Family Guy at 9 pm hit #23 with 701,000 (up from 665,000). The Ceeb’s Maria performances took #27 with 655,000 (up from 571,000).
