New Canwest partnership offers targeted audience reach

Consumers can browse relevant marketplace listings, receive email search alerts and post free ads a la Craigslist.

A new partnership between Canwest and classifieds aggregator Oodle enables advertisers to reach targeted audiences by bringing together a more comprehensive neighbourhood marketplace through local daily newspaper websites. A click on ‘classifieds’ launches readers into their neighbourhood’s listings – with the freshest links on top. The initiative encompasses newspapers, niche websites and GoLocal business directory listings, and features options to post free ads and receive email alerts.

Visitors can launch an in-depth assortment of ads at the newspaper sites of the Victoria Times Colonist, the Vancouver Province, the Vancouver Sun, the Edmonton Journal, the Calgary Herald, the Regina Leader-Post, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the Windsor Star, the Citizen, the Montreal Gazette and Canada.com.

Canada.com users can also access the Oodle.com network, currently attracting over 5.5 million unique visitors a month, with their ads automatically posted to its partner sites, which include Lycos, Local.com, MySpace and over 250 leading local and national publications.

Ad opps include online displays such as leaderboards and skyscrapers that can be targeted on a per-category basis, as well as section-specific top-of-page featured ads and self-serve print and online combinations.
