Comedy launches Upload Yours

The user-generated site is pegged as the new interactive Canadian comedy playground.

CTV’s The Comedy Network is launching a Canadian user-generated video website, Upload Yours, at uly.thecomedynetwork.ca. The new interactive comedy community, created by Canadians for Canadians, invites webisode makers, online spoofers and stand-up warriors to upload videos, and arm-chair critics and trend-spotting bloggers to rant or rave about the homegrown talent they see.

To kick-start the launch of the site, geared to an 18-49 demo skewed male 18-34, The Comedy Network presents ‘Worst Gig Ever,’ a series of exclusive shorts in which nine Canadian comedic talents – including MuchMusic Video on Trial pundits Debra DiGiovanni, Laurie Elliott and Darrin Rose – recount tales of their most harrowing gigs.

After creating a profile, anyone brave enough to broadcast their own comedic assets can upload a video, enter a description and watch as Upload Yours’ community of comedy ‘counselors’ lets everyone know whether or not a video’s got ‘balls.’

In true Comedy fashion, Upload Yours’ rating system ranges from Itty Bitty Balls (worst video) to Monster Balls (best video), and everything in between – Blue Balls, Middlin’ Diddlin’ Balls and – wait for it – Flaming Donkey Balls.

Traditional ad unit placements and sponsorships are available on the new site, and include video and custom channel sponsorships as well as ad integration opps.

The site is being promoted across the CTV Digital Media Network, as well as on air on the Comedy Network.

The Comedy Network is currently available to over five million households across the country.
