Co-branded CD launch party smells like tween spirit

To support their new album, girl group Done with Dolls parties it up with sponsors Vera Wang Rock Princess perfume and Rimmel.

Illustrating how brands and bands can combine promotional forces, Toronto teeny-boppers Done with Dolls are hosting their premier CD release party at Toronto’s the Rivoli on April 1. Sponsored by Coty Canada’s Vera Wang Rock Princess perfume and Rimmel, the branded bash will work to boost sales and generate interest for both the sponsors and the band’s self-titled CD.

Hosting music label reps and girls aged 10 to 12 years, the invite-only event will charm tween pop-rockers with makeup applications by Rimmel, ‘Rock Tails’ kiddie cocktails, Rock Princess mood rings and other gifts supplied by the Coty brands. The group’s website, Donewithdolls.com, uses newsletters and band member blogs to foster fan engagement and maintain awareness created by the launch party.

Coty was eager to support the promotion given that Rock Princess and Rimmel are geared towards young girls with an inner ‘Rock Princess,’ whose means of expression include music, fashion and makeup, explains Aliki Mahshy, director of PR and education for Coty Canada.

The co-branded party was an ‘easy fit’ for Coty and the band, as their orientation towards female youth creates a similar rock-pop image, says Kirby Miller, band manager and father of two band members.
