Cannes reveals Film and Press juries

Two Toronto-based creatives will weigh in on who gets the Lions.

This year’s Film and Press Lions juries taking part in the 2009 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival have been revealed, and they include two Canadian creatives.

Janet Kestin, co-CCO in the Toronto office of Ogilvy & Mather, sits on the jury in the Film Lions category, designed for 180-second entries transmitted either on television or cinema. Kestin and her Ogilvy partner Nancy Vonk were the creative directors of Dove ‘Evolution,’ winner of two Cannes Lions Grand Prix in 2007.

Stephen Jurisic, creative director at Toronto-based John St., sits on the Press jury. Jurisic established himself as one of the leading art directors in Canada during his time at Ammirati Puris, where in 2000 he was appointed co-creative director. He left a year later to launch John St. with his partners Angus Tucker, Arthur Fleischmann and Emily Bain.

Judging will take place in Cannes during the festival week with Press winners announced on Wednesday, June 24, and Film winners honoured on Saturday, June 27.
