VisionTV has viewers taking on the role of programmer this summer. The network’s new ‘So You Wanna Be in TV’ contest, which runs through Aug. 7, has viewers across the country submitting program picks online and on air for a chance to win a $1,000 electronics shopping spree.
Viewers who fill out the contest page questionnaire, which solicits their feedback on VisionTV’s prospective and current program offerings – in particular, the net’s British comedy block, airing weeknights 8 to 9 pm ET (and in part responsible for the net’s 50% increase in prime-time audience share) – qualify for the final draw.
Promoted on air and on its website, the contest’s top vote-getting shows debut airing mid-autumn.
‘We want to deepen [fans’] sense of ownership by giving them a real say in our future program choices,’ says VisionTV president and CEO Bill Roberts in a recent release, adding ‘we value any opportunity to learn more about our viewers’ interests and preferences.’
Since the start of the summer season, VisionTV’s weekly audience reach has averaged over a million viewers.
