People from Cossette are Best at CNA Extras

The Canadian Newspaper Awards this week saw Cossette's Toronto and West agencies scoop up top honours.

Cossette Toronto’s ‘Breakfast Burrito’ execution for McDonald’s took home the Best of Show for the Canadian Newspaper Association’s 2009 Extra Awards this week. The entry also scooped up two Golds, and the agency’s ‘Economic Bailout Package’ ad for General Mills’ Hamburger Helper won bronze.

Vancouver’s Rethink cleaned up with 12 Extras and two Certificates of Excellence for advertisers Playland, BC Lions, The Canadian Press, Blueline Sports and Coast Capital Savings, while Cossette West went home with eight Extras and two Certificates of Excellence for Greengate Gardens, McDonald’s and Convergence ‘09 entries.

Quebec City-based agency Lg2 claimed seven Extras for advertisers Kebs de Québec, Lunetterie Sears and the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

DDB Vancouver walked home with a Silver, a Bronze and a Certificate of Excellence for their Looking Glass Foundation for Eating Disorders ads, a Bronze and a Certificate of Excellence for the BC Hydro executions and two Certificates of Excellence for the Professional Photographers’ Association of B.C.

A new award this year, the Craft Award for Art Direction, was handed out to five agencies: Cossette West for Greengate Gardens, Juniper Park for Eini & Co, Leo Burnett Toronto for Cheer Dark Laundry, Rethink for Playland and TBWAToronto for Infiniti Canada.
