Survivor stays on top ’til the end

American Idol was in second place, while the NHL playoffs on CBC dominated the weekend ratings.

Here are the top-ranked shows in Canada (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM, for April 26 to May 7, 2010.

Monday: NHL Playoffs round one on TSN at 7 p.m. won in the ratings at the start of week with 2.306 million viewers. The playoffs displaced House, which had 1.938 million viewers on Global the previous week.

Tuesday: American Idol on CTV at 8 p.m. continued to dominate the night with 2.704 million viewers, and was the second-most watched program of the week. The show attracted more viewers than it had the previous week, when its audience size was 2.512 million.

Wednesday: About 2.445 million tuned in to find out who got voted off in CTV’s American Idol results show at 9 p.m. Idol was also most-watched the previous week with 2.024 million viewers.

Thursday: Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains on Global at 8 p.m. won against a new episode of CTV’s Grey’s Anatomy – the reality show attracted 2.864 million viewers as the top program of the week. Survivor was also the champ the previous week with 2.778 million viewers.

Friday and Saturday: The NHL playoffs on CBC are heating up the ratings on weekends with 2.397 million tuning in. The playoffs were also on top the previous week on CBC with 1.679 million viewers.

Sunday: The Amazing Race on CTV at 8 p.m. was the top program of the night, and in the top three for the week with 2.509 million viewers. It was also most-watched the previous week with 2.180 million fans watching.
