The summer is heating up on Showcase, where Monday’s first episode of Stephen King’s Haven became the specialty’s highest-rated premiere of a Canuck-scripted series ever.
Based on King’s novella The Colorado Kid, Haven brought in 298,000 viewers, surpassing Showcase’s previous record holder, Billable Hours, which opened to 296,000 viewers back in 2006. Haven‘s ratings will likely be higher once final numbers become available. (All numbers 2+.)
The Nova Scotia-shot series follows an FBI agent, played by Emily Rose (ER), who tries to keep supernatural forces at bay in a small Maine town where the cursed gather to lead normal lives. The show had its US premiere Friday on Syfy to the tune of two million viewers.
