Aeroplan has launched its annual fall points promotions with a new mass media campaign and enhanced member profiles on its websites.
The loyalty program recently launched two new promotions: a CIBC Visa co-promotion in which members are offered double points when they book Air Canada travel before Nov. 14. It also started ‘The Great Aeroplan Round Up,’ on Sept. 13, a separate promotion in which members can earn double points for shopping with three or more of its retail partners, which runs until Oct. 24.
The CIBC Visa co-promotion is being pushed with print and online ads in Air Canada’s EnRoute magazine and website, as well as print ads in major-market newspapers. Creative was handled by Sid Lee in Montreal while media was handled by Touche!PHD, also in Montreal.
‘The Great Aeroplan Round Up’ is running simultaneously without the support of mass media, but with a new tracking tool for member profiles on Aeroplan.com. Production and promotion-specific creative was handled by Toronto’s Rapp Collins, the database and CMR division of DDB Canada.
The tool sits at the top of the profile screen, listing which Aeroplan retail partners the user has made purchases at, and those they they’ve yet to shop at, David Klein, VP, marketing, Aeroplan, tells MiC.
Approximately 150,000 people check their profiles for transaction status every month, he adds.
‘We know [our members] get excited about these promotions…and we thought this would be an easy way for our members to track their progress,’ Klein says, adding that the list also keeps the partners top-of-mind for members as they try to rack up extra miles.
