Future Shop is letting Canadians put together their fantasy living room on its website this holiday season, and then transforming that tricked-out space into a wish list for friends and family.
The ‘Thrilling to Win’ contest is part of the brand’s ‘Thrilling to Give, Thrilling to Get’ holiday campaign currently in market. The Thrilling to Win microsite allows consumers to create their virtual dream living room, then use special codes to ‘unlock’ different decorations in the room. Registration in the contest creates a grand prize entry, and each living-room activity completed afterward generates instant prize entries. Users can also create a Future Shop wish list, which they can share with family and friends.
The campaign microsite was created by October 17 Media in Vancouver and campaign media and creative was handled in-house.
The contest is meant to be an engagement driver for the campaign, encouraging consumers to return to the website weekly for prizing opportunities, Nikki Hellyer, director of marketing, Future Shop, tells MiC.
‘What we wanted to do is design something that would help keep consumers engaged, and give something back during the holidays on a regular basis,’ she says. ‘The idea that we developed is a contest that drives repeat brand engagement in the key weeks leading up to the big event. The contest is designed with incentives that entice you to return on a frequent basis.’
The retailer is also donating $1 for every room created to the Boys and Girls Club of Canada.
