CTV, A unveil mid-season schedule

Hot in Cleveland and American Idol return to the lineup, and awards season kicks off with the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.

CTV is kicking off its mid-season lineup with a number of series premieres and new episodes.

The season two debut of Betty White’s Hot In Cleveland will begin expanding the Monday night comedy block to two hours staring Jan. 24 at 8 p.m., to be followed by new series Mr. Sunshine, starring Canuck-raised Matthew Perry on Feb. 7 at 8:30 p.m. Also officially joining the block are Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly.

American Idol is also coming back to CTV with a two-hour premiere on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m., in which Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will join the judging fold with Randy Jackson.

New episodes of Flashpoint hit the airwaves on Jan. 4 at 10 p.m. for its mid-season premiere, while The Listener debuts its second season on Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. with new cast member Lauren Lee Smith (CSI). The Marilyn Denis Show will also gets its daytime debut on Jan. 10 at 10 a.m., and Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance sees a premiere for two weeks starting Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. before moving to A.

Meanwhile, a host of returning series will also see new eps, including The Defenders (Jan. 12 at 10 p.m.), Law & Order: Los Angeles, Castle, No Ordinary Family, Law & Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, The Mentalist, Blue Boods, Desperate Housewives and CSI: Miami.

Ratings hits The Big Bang Theory and $#*! My Dad Says will also be settling back into their Thursday night slots on Jan. 6. And The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business will have its HD debut on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.

CTV is also ready for awards season with the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 16, while the glitz of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards airs on Feb. 27.

As for A, returning series include The Vampire Diaries (Jan. 27), Nikita (Jan. 27) and Private Practice (Jan. 6). Back-to-back eps of Human Target kick off on Jan. 5 before sliding into a regular timeslot on Jan. 26, with season 16 of America’s Next Top Model capping off Wednesday nights.

V returns to Tuesday nights on A starting Jan. 4 after Hellcats, returning Jan. 25.

Season one of sci-fi fantasy series Sanctuary from Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1) heads for the Monday night schedule on Jan. 3.
