Jim Warrington to direct NABS

The organization's newly appointed executive director will officially start work on April 1.

On the heels of the departure of Mike Fenton, the board of the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) has named a new executive director and his name is Jim Warrington.

Warrington, who was most recently president and chief strategist of Toronto-based Fantail Communications, will officially step into the role on April 1 and will lead the strategic initiatives the not-for-profit will implement this year, including more programs, services and financial/volunteering opportunities.

His primary goal is to help NABS become more important to people. ‘I think the outreach to, perhaps, new fields of endeavour, engaging more people in the marketing/communications industry in this charity, and most importantly getting the message out about what NABS does is really why I’m here and I’m excited by that,’ says Warrington.

The role is Warrington’s first ‘deep-dive’ into the not-for-profit world, aside from sitting on the boards of other organizations like ABC Life Literacy Canada and the Toronto chapter of the American Marketing Association. As for Fantail, Warrington says it’s been put into ‘sleep mode,’ with all of its clients being transitioned to two of his former employees.

NABS is dedicated to providing support for individuals and families in the communications industry facing personal, career and family challenges due to illness, unemployment or financial difficulties. It helped to support over 600 people in 2010.
