CraveTV to launch on four new carriers

Access Communications is among the carriers set to add the homegrown streamer in the coming weeks.

Bell Media has secured new carriage deals for its CraveTV streamer with Access Communications, Cable Cable, Nexicom and Northwestel.

The latest carriers, to launch the SVOD in the coming weeks, join Eastlink, Telus Optik TV and Bell Aliant FibreOP TV as distributors.

CraveTV, which requires a bundled TV subscription from an authenticated cable provider, is also part of Bell Media’s other VOD offerings for Bell Fibe and Bell Satellite TV.

To launch CraveTV in December 2014, Bell Media completed a slew of SVOD rights deals with Hollywood studios and other TV suppliers to secure over 10,000 hours of TV programming.

Bell Media said it continues discussions with other carriers for the $4 per-month streamer aimed at existing cable and satellite TV subscribers.

Rivals Rogers Media and Shaw Media earlier launched their own SVOD competitor to Netflix Canada, but initially only for their own cable subscribers.
