Cue Digital Media is expanding its efforts in Quebec with the addition of a director of sales for the market.
The company has added Oliver Ceballos to the new role. Ceballos most recently worked as a client business manager at Maxus Canada’s Montreal office. He has also been at Quebec agencies including BCP and Bos, working on clients like Molson Coors, Loto-Quebec and Metro.
David U.K., CEO and founder of Cue Digital Media, said that currently his company does about 5% of its business in Quebec. Based on his experience working in the market, he expects that figure to quadruple once Cue has an established presence in Montreal. He added there are plans to bring on more people to the Montreal team in 2018, and that Ceballos will also be supported by the company’s Toronto office.
Ceballos will be focused on selling Quebec-based brands for national and local campaigns for its slate of international publishers that includes CNN, Bleacher Report and Us Weekly. U.K. said Cue is also looking to build on its French inventory in the longer term.
In addition to getting boots on the ground in Quebec, the company’s Toronto operation has hired Peter Bates to the newly created role of director of business development. Bates will manage the strategic growth of Cue’s news, entertainment and sports business units and oversee expansion efforts into new business verticals.
U.K. said since Cue launched eight years ago, he has been managing the business development on his own, so a lot of the supply has come from his own relationships and word-of-mouth. But, he added, as business has grown (he said Cue has consistently seen 100% year-over-year growth), it has become a lot to manage on his own. So Bates will work as his “second-hand man.”
Prior to joining Cue, Bates most recently worked as a Canadian commercial media lead at Videology.
