Bell Media’s CTV has renewed its juggernaut reality series The Amazing Race Canada for an eighth season.
Olympic champion Jon Montgomery will return to host the new season, which is set to return in 2020.
The format’s seventh season, which concluded this week drew a bigger audience than the previous season, bringing in an average minute audience of more than 1.9 million Canadian viewers across the season, according to Numeris data provided by Bell Media.
Besides consistently topping the Numeris charts for the summer, The Amazing Race Canada has also seen double-digit gains in key demos this year, with a 38% increase in ages 18 to 34 and 12% increase for ages 18 to 49. The season seven premiere alone saw a 15% increase in viewership from season six. Final data on season seven will be released in the coming weeks.
The Amazing Race Canada is produced by Insight Productions, in association with CTV. Mark Lysakowski serves as executive producer and showrunner, while John Bruton also executive produces.
