QSRs held onto their spot as the most active TV advertiser in Canada last week, helped by an increased buy from McDonald’s, according to AdEase data for Feb. 6 to 12.
McDonald’s once again bought the most TV spots in Calgary, Vancouver and on specialty channels, while also managing to jump to the top of the list in Montreal and Toronto. Most of the restaurant’s spots were promoting to its $1 coffee offer.
QSRs were, once again, the most active advertiser category on TV, with Wendy’s, Tim Hortons and Subway all maintaining significant buys. Burger King also had a significant presence on specialty, promoting the return of its Angry Whopper.
Outside of restaurants, Subaru was in the top ten across markets and on specialty, while Advil was in the top ten in three markets. Strong buys from Leon’s and The Brick also managed to keep furniture stores as the second-most active advertiser category, behind QSRs.
