QSRs once again bought the most TV ads in Canada last week, according to media monitoring data from AdEase for the week of July 17 to 23.

Tim Hortons and McDonald’s held their spots as the most and second-most active TV advertisers. McDonald’s began a new campaign for the Big Mac, to go along with an ongoing campaign for its breakfast menu, while Tim Hortons started running recruitment ads to go with its Dream Cookies campaign.

The rest of the national top ten looked very similar to the previous week. Leon’s moved into third with new ads behind its latest sales event, while Downy and Wendy’s stayed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Burger King moved up one spot into sixth, with Trivago moving into seventh. CIBC, Uber and Crave rounded out the national rankings, moving up from just outside the top ten.

Categorically, QSRs were once again the most active advertiser category by a significant margin, buying roughly four times as much as furniture retailers. In addition to the restaurants mentioned above, there were also significant buys from A&W and Subway in certain markets.
