Pattison enters into advertising partnership with Vancouver International Airport

Starting this year, the OOH ad company will focus on increasing inventory at the airport.

Pattison Outdoor has inked a multi-year deal with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to be its advertising provider.

The company will renew and increase digital advertising at the airport. The traveller experience will be at the center of all decision-making, says Pattison, which will also design spaces that “inspire and embody the beauty of British Columbia.” The digital transformation of the media experience is set to begin this year.

“YVR represents a key partnership for Pattison, reinforcing our commitment to deliver innovative advertising solutions that resonate with audiences both locally and globally,” said Pattison president Steve McGregor. “This venture underscores our dedication to elevating the airport experience and providing brands with unparalleled opportunities to engage with travelers.”

According to Pattison VP and general manager, Pacific region, Jeff Richards, airports offer the opportunity to reach a high-income audience in an attractive environment. “Crowds spend hours idling in terminals without giving way to outside distractions, making airports one of the most powerful places to position campaigns.”

YVR joins Pattison’s portfolio of national airports. Overall, the company provides advertising options to 17 airports, including indoor and outdoor advertising at Winnipeg, Calgary and Victoria international airports, as well as outdoor advertising only at Ottawa and Halifax airports.

A recent report by the Vancouver Airport Authority shows that YVR recorded a total of 24.94 million passengers in 2023, representing a 31% increase from the 19.05 million registered in 2022, and a 95% recovery from the all-time record of 26.38 million in 2019. Last year, YVR was also recognized as one of the top three airports in North America and one of the top 20 airports in the world by Skytrax.

“Through this collaboration, we look forward to elevating the advertising spaces and technology at YVR that will allow for creative executions and engaging content for the millions of people who travel through the airport each year,” said YVR president and CEO Tamara Vrooman.
