QYOU Media to launch Indian gaming channel

The channel will be available in September.

QYOU Media is launching Q GameX in September, a gaming channel which will stream gameplay matches and battlegrounds to Indian audiences. The new channel will aim to reach digitally savvy young adults between the ages of 18 to 35.

The company could not confirm by press time which platforms the channel would be available on in Canada. But the company has established distribution agreements with over 70 Connected TV OEM’s including Samsung, Xiaomi, One Plus and TCL. Its flagship, youth-oriented channel Q India launched to the global Indian diaspora in April, including audiences in Canada. Other channels QYOU has launched since then include Q Marathi, Q Kahaniyan and Q Comedistaan.

QYOU will further monetize the viewership by working with brands and advertisers interested in that same audience. According to the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, in 2020, 61% of Canadian adults under the age of 65 play video games (23 million adults) and the average age of gamers was 34 years old.

“Investors in North America are keenly aware of the massive viewership and ad sales figures that have accompanied the explosive growth of connected TVs and content outlets like Roku, Pluto and Tubi. Connected TVs and so called FAST (free ad-supported TV) channels have become an essential part of the media distribution landscape,” said QYOU media CEO and co-founder Curt MarvisWe, adding that the company has plans on being a major beneficiary of this new way for consumers to view their preferred programming.
