After local governments held on to the top spots in several markets last week, a host of other advertisers jumped up the radio rankings from Feb. 6 to 12, according to data from AdEase.
Spence Diamonds, frequently a top-ten buyer in several markets, bought the most radio spots in Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver, and moved to second in Calgary.
Shoppers Drug Mart topped the list in Toronto, with the biggest portion of its buy going to spots informing customers of recent changes in Ontario that allow its pharmacists to write prescriptions for certain minor illnesses. McDonald’s made a big jump up the list to take the top spot in Calgary.
In Montreal, CTV was at the top, while in Quebec City, Expomoto jumped to the top of the rankings with ads promoting the 2023 edition of its motorsports expo.
Categorically, QSRs were the most-active advertiser in four of the major markets, thanks to big buys from McDonald’s and Tim Hortons.
