Automakers are turning to the radio as a major component of the winter marketing efforts, according to AdEase data for the week of Feb. 13 to 19.

Toyota began a new radio push as the most active radio advertiser in Quebec City and Ottawa, second in Toronto, third in Montreal and Vancouver. Toyota’s ads promoted the Rav4 and Tacoma models, with both prefaced by a message about the automaker’s durability and reliability.

Honda and Mazda also began new pushes in the top ten in Montreal, while Subaru maintained its top ten presence in Toronto and Ottawa. Ford also maintained its presence in Calgary and Edmonton.

Governments had , with the Government of Canada topping the list in Toronto with ads informing Canadians how they can welcome new immigrants to the country. The Government of Alberta also returned to the top of the list in Calgary and Alberta with ads promoting various programs, such as benefits for parents and cost-saving measures on utilities.

CTV was once again the top advertiser in Montreal, with McDonald’s moving to the top spot in Vancouver.
