It’s safe to say that when the numbers come out for the Canada-Russia game last night they will be massive, if the USA-Canada game and Tuesday’s Canada-Germany game are any indication.
The Canada-Germany game didn’t quite reach the sky-high numbers as the US game (10.6 million across channels), but earned a respectable average audience of 7.4 million viewers across all Consortium networks airing the game (6.7 million watched on CTV). It was enough, though, to make it the third most-watched event of the Games.
Ladies figure skating also did well, as an average of 2.8 million viewers across eight channels tuned in to watch Canadian Joannie Rochette’s third-place performance in the ladies short program. Rochette will skate again tonight in the long program. Overall, an average of 6.1 million viewers tuned into Olympic prime-time Tuesday night, its second-highest of the Games.

1. Men’s hockey (CAN/GER): 7.4 million (CTV, V/CPAC, OMNI.1, OMNI.2, OMNI AB, OMNI BC)
2. Figure skating, ladies’ short program: 2.8 million (CTV, V/CPAC, Sportsnet, RDS, OMNI.1, OMNI.2, OMNI AB, OMNI BC)
3. Ladies’ ski cross: 2.2 million (CTV, V/CPAC)
4. Bobsleigh, women’s heat 2: 2.1 million (CTV, TSN, RDS, OLN, RIS)
5. Men’s curling (CAN/CHN): 1.4 million (TSN, RDS)
