Canadian techco L Squared Digital Signage has received a $1.75 million investment from the federal government to upgrade its digital communications platform and fuel its global expansion.
L Square Digital Signage is a cloud-based OOH services firm with a client base that includes The UPS Store, LifeLabs and McMaster University, among others. It has offices in multiple countries but the new funding will be directed towards its Canadian operations, including hiring 15 new Toront-based staff.
The funding comes from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) and will be partially applied to the company’s content management platform, The L Squared Hub.
The Hub allows users to control content on OOH networks such as lobby display screens, menu boards and mobile applications. It also delivers location-tailored content such as alerts, videos, ads, news and corporate info to the networks and security support.
Minister Filomena Tassi of Fed Dev Ontario said in a statement this type of investment is aimed at helping Ontario companies grow, and support others in their respective ecosystems.
In a separate statement, L Squared Digital Signage co-owner Gajendra Ratnavel, said the timing of the investment was welcome.
“FedDev Ontario’s assistance came at a critical point in our business growth,” said Ratnavel. “This funding has enabled us to scale into new markets as well as export outside Canada.”
