In the rings: CUME Day 4

Canadians go crazy for the first-ever gold on home soil with Bilodeau's gold-medal presentation on Monday.

It was long awaited and much anticipated, so it’s no surprise that Canadians tuned in en masse for Alexandre Bilodeau’s gold medal presentation at BC Place stadium Monday night.

An average of 6.3 million Canadians watched the victory ceremony (as the nightly medal presentations are called), capping a big day in which Canada won a fourth medal for the Games in men’s snowboard cross. Three million viewers tuned in for that broadcast, while a total of 26.2 million viewers took in some Games programming over the course of the day.

According to the CUME index release, 80% of people in English Canada and 71% of French-language people in Quebec experienced the Games on television yesterday. Online, the Consortium isn’t releasing daily UMVs, but said that its sites have achieved 48.5 million page views to date.

MiC will be reporting daily CUME numbers throughout the Games, so watch this space.
