The publisher of Toronto Life magazine just got a little more Toronto.
St. Joseph Media announced Monday that it has acquired noted blog Torontoist.com from Ink Truck Media, which acquired the rights to Torontoist in 2009. Ink Truck, a mediaco created by publisher Ken Hunt and partners Rob Silver and Amanda Alvaro in 2009, purchased the rights to the site from Gothamist LLC after the company indicated it would shut the site down as a result of the recession.
According to its media kit, Torontoist.com receives an average of 375,000 visitors per month.
Hunt will remain on board with the publication under its new ownership, but ad sales will be handled by the St. Joseph Media team. Current ad opps on the site include IAB-standard display, but the site’s media kit is being revamped by the St. Joseph’s sales team and will be re-released soon, a spokesperson for the site confirmed.
‘St. Joseph Media is the perfect home for Torontoist. It is a company where we will be able to retain the independent streak that makes Torontoist great, while having the support we need to grow and flourish,’ Hunt said in a statement.
