Samsung Canada on what’s next

The electronics co is bringing its "Next Best Thing" campaign north with a new ad for the Super Bowl.

Samsung Canada is bringing its popular online “Next Best Thing” campaign north this week with a new ad in the series launching in the US and Canada on Super Sunday.

Aimed at calling out fanboys of what Ken Price, director of mobile communications marketing at Samsung Canada, calls “related technology” (Apple?), the first spot in the series launched last fall in the US and shows a line of people waiting to get into a store to purchase the next great smart phone when someone toting the latest Samsung phone passes by.

The spots feature media from Starcom MediaVest Group and creative from MDC Partners agency 72andSunny, with the first in the series airing in Canada this Friday on TSN, says Price.

A second spot will launch on the Samsung Canada Facebook page this weekend, with the third and final spot in the storyline coming to TV screens in Canada and the US on Super Sunday.

“The Super Bowl spot will be a significant investment for us, and will certainly be talked about in terms of the production value,” he says. “It will blow out from the line up idea into something else that really engages the audience.”
