CASSIES gear up

The awards that recognize business effectiveness includes several names in the media biz on its judging panel.

The judges for the CASSIES are on deck, and July 23rd is the date for case submissions from anyone wanting to be recognized for achieving proven business effectiveness in advertising. Given the economy, it should prove to be an interesting year.

Chair of judging this time out is David Rosenberg, partner, CD at Bensimon Byrne. He heads up a panel that includes Cynthia Fleming, COO, Carat Canada; Karen Lee, senior media manager, Coca-Cola; Patrick Beauduin, VP création convergente, Cossette; Rob Assimakopoulos, SVP marketing and commercial assets, CFL; Terry O’Reilly, writer and director, Pirate Toronto/New York, Pirate Toronto; Lucie Bouthillette, directrice commercialization, marché des particuliers, Fédération des caisse Desjardins; Carmen Ciotola, VP communications marketing, Tourisme Montréal; John Finkelstein, partner, creative, Grip Limited; David Gibb, EVP/MD, JWT; Mandeep Malik, professor, McMaster University, De Groote School of Business; Martin Sansregret, president, TAM-TAMTBWA; and Tom Shepansky, founding partner, Rethink.

In addition to product categories, CASSIES are also awarded for Best Use of Media, Best Insight, Best Integrated Program, Canadian Contribution to a Global or Multi-Country Campaign, Best Launch, Small Budget, Canadian Success Outside Canada, Off to a Good Start and Sustained Success.

Submissions are to be filed online at Cassies.ca by July 23, and the awards will be handed out on Jan. 28, 2010 in Toronto and Montreal.

CASSIES is presented by the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA), the Association des agences de Publicité du Québec (AAPQ) and Association des professionnels de la communication et du marketing (APCM).
