A new integrated strategy between Teletoon and iTunes is offering advertisers new promotional opportunities by making five Teletoon series available on the iTunes Store in Canada: 6Teen, Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action for the tweens, and Life’s a Zoo and Rick and Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All The World for the adult market.
Promotional opportunities include partnership extensions to the iTunes platform, such as special code promotions that offer respective demos free downloads from iTunes.
‘Partnering with a great service like iTunes really plays into that integrated strategy,’ explains Trent Locke, Teletoon’s VP of business affairs, pointing to platforms already in use by Teletoon like the Teletoon.com video player, Cogeco On Demand, Rogers On Demand and Telus Mobile TV.
‘Moving forward, iTunes will play an important role in launches of new shows,’ Locke tells MiC, referring to possible sneak previews online before airing on TV. Locke hopes to utilize iTunes channels for fans to download back catalogue episodes, and as a platform to role out Teletoon-related iPhone games.
The launch will be promoted on-air and online.
