Astral Media Radio GP is launching a new national content and marketing division this month. Pegged as Canada’s largest radio syndication network, Orbyt, formerly operating as Sound Source Network, is repositioning the company’s music, lifestyle, comedy, business, technology, entertainment and sports content for growth by evolving into media brands that span web, mobile and other new delivery platforms.
Orbyt president and GM Jean-Marie Heimrath plans to develop and acquire radio programming for new media platforms and to foster new original Canadian radio productions. Plans include showcasing emerging Canadian music and production talent through Media Lab, an Astral Media initiative that builds an ongoing supply of new Canadian music content.
Currently, Orbyt exclusively represents entertainment properties like On Air with Ryan Seacrest, American Top 40 Countdown, gossip blogger Perez Hilton’s Perez Hilton On-Demand, Too Much ’80s with Erica Ehm and Steve Anthony, The John Tesh Radio Show and the queen of nighttime radio, Delilah. Orbyt also reps content titles like ET Radio Minute with Mary Hart, The Business Report, David Letterman’s Top 10, Canadian Top 20 and American Country Countdown.
