Vancouver taxis get interactive with touch screens

Moving Media Group's interactive OOH advertising network is launching in Vancouver this week.

Anticipating the crowd-to-be in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic Games and the need for outdoor information, Moving Media Group’s interactive out-of-home advertising consisting of touch-screens in taxis is launching in Vancouver this week. By January 2009, the network will include up to 50 screens and deliver approx. 300,000 impressions per month.

Equipped with GPS and Bluetooth technology, the screens target professionals, tourists and entertainment seekers with news, weather updates and attractions, among others, around the clock. Mobile users can also take advantage of the screens by downloading coupons and tickets directly onto cell phones.

Operating over 60% of the taxis in downtown Vancouver, Vancouver Taxi, MacLures Cabs, BlackTop and Checker Cabs will all be equipped with screens over the next two weeks.

The screens reach a sough-after demo in an intimate and distraction-free atmosphere, says Zac Killam, CEO of Moving Media Group, while Peter Kambo, account exec. at Cossette Media adds that the network offers clients product interactivity and engagement with the consumer in the OOH space.

Clubzone.com is already on board and is building a mobile version of their nightclub listings for the network. In 2009, Moving Media Group plans to expand into other Canadian markets.
