YTV greenlights new Canadian teen angst show

A new series for tweens blends live action and CGI in a novel way.

Toronto-HQ’d Fresh TV and L.A.-based Blueprint Entertainment are co-producing a new live-action series for YTV, In Maya’s Opinion, scheduled for production in April 2009.

The half-hour comedy, geared towards youth ages 10 to 14, will focus on the humourous aspects of the trials and tribulations of a 14-year old girl, and will show her hyperactive imagination at work using CGI-enhanced ‘Mayanimation.’ Jocelyn Hamilton, VP of content at Corus Kids, says that Corus hopes that the series will bring a new style of comedy to the live action genre.
