As part of its second annual national savings days, ING Direct Canada is hitting the country’s streets tomorrow to help 20,000 Canadians save their money.
ING president and CEO Peter Aceto can be seen tomorrow morning refunding ABM fees at the corner of Bloor and Bay Streets in Toronto, while orange-clad street squads across the country (Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver) will be handing out transit tokens, coffee coupons and even afternoon pick-me-ups in an effort to show Canadians that small changes in their daily spending habits can add up to big savings.
ING released a video on YouTube last Thursday with plain-talking Aceto announcing the event. ‘We think savings should be a lifestyle,’ he says. ‘They should be part of your daily habit.’
The bank also recently commissioned a survey that found that although a third of Canadians see the cost of living having a major impact on their finances, many aren’t willing to give up most daily comforts, with technology topping the list.
ING Direct currently has over 1.6 million clients and more than $24 billion in total assets.
Media buys for the national savings campaign were handled by Toronto-based Media Experts.
