Cineplex playing games

In yet another more-than-movies innovation, the cinema chain will rent screens at 30 of its theatres for private gaming sessions.

Cineplex is putting video games on the big screen following a deal with the makers of Xbox.

The theatre chain announced yesterday that, starting Aug. 15 and outside of regular movie times, it will rent out screens at some 30 of its locations for private gaming sessions – making use of wide screens and surround sound for the likes of Halo and Assassin’s Creed.

Gamers can bring their own titles or make use of a selection available at the theatre. A two-hour session will cost $179.

‘This unique experience is great for parties and events for groups of two to 12, and will make the gaming experience larger than life,’ explains Cineplex spokesperson Pat Marshall.
