Quebecor is supporting the 32nd World Film Festival (WFF), which will be held in Montreal from August 21 to September 1, 2008. The WFF is an international event with programming that celebrates movies from every continent.
Quebecor will donate funds and create a promotional campaign in its subsidiaries’ print and electronic media outlets (Le Journal de Montreal, Le Ici Montreal and 24 Heures). In addition, Quebecor will also spend $2.5 million on the Elephant project, which will digitize all the feature films made in Quebec to date.
‘Quebecor has always been committed to promoting culture in all its forms,’ says Quebecor president/CEO Pierre Karl Peladeau. ‘Our sponsorship of the WFF helps make international cinema more accessible to Montreal film lovers. It is a way to foster cultural diversity and open a window on the world. It is also a way to celebrate movies and the talented people who make them.’
