CTV joins royal watchers with TheRoyals.ca

The network sets up a one-stop shop to count the remaining 100 days until William and Kate's wedding.

Media coverage of Charles and Diana’s big day may have seemed over-the-top at the time, but it will be just a drop in the bucket compared to what’s in store for William and Kate in April.

Today, CTV joins the fray with TheRoyals.ca, a ‘one-stop online destination’ for royal watchers counting down to the big day. The launch, in fact, coincides with the 100-day mark until the two tie the knot on April 29, 2011.

The site will essentially function as a CTV portal for all things royal, CTV’s manager of digital media communications, Carolyn Fell, tells MiC, featuring news, photo galleries and crucial analysis of ‘Kate’s Savvy Sense of Style.’

Traditional display and sponsorship opportunities are open for the site, Fell says, and the network’s sales team is open to creating customized packages for the site.

The network is kicking off the countdown today with a slate of royal-themed programming, including Etalk Presents: Road To The Royal Wedding at 1 p.m. ET on CTV and 8:30 p.m. ET on E!; a royal special this morning on Canada AM; and themed segments on CTV’s News Channel and CP24.

The wedding will also be streamed live on the site on the big day.
