Rogers Media to launch City Montreal on Feb. 4

The conversion of Metro14 Montreal comes as the near-national network rebrands as part of a national marketing makeover (Seed pictured).

The Rogers Media makeover of Citytv continues Feb. 4 with the debut of City Montreal.

As the near-national network rebrands as City, Rogers Media will convert the English language Métro14 Montréal station into City Montreal, after receiving CRTC approval to do so in December 2012.

With the rebrand comes a new primetime schedule, also bowing on Feb. 4, which includes the Canadian-inspired episode of How I Met Your Mother, starring Alan Thicke, Paul Shaffer and Jason Priestley, the debut episode of the homegrown comedy Seed (pictured), followed by 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly and The Carrie Diaries.

Rogers Media earlier launched City Saskatchewan and placed City programming in three western Canadian markets to get into nine million homes countrywide. That’s still short of the national audiences for the CBC, CTV and Global Television.

To fill its larger footprints, Rogers Media needs to secure a simulcast of the City feed in Atlantic Canada.
