MTV puts celebs into 4Real

A new Canadian series will put some star power into MTV in Canada's mission to 'create content that has social currency.'

MTV in Canada is set to premiere an eight-part Canadian original series, 4Real, on Monday, April 14 in the 8 pm ET time slot. The show follows celebs embarking on epic journeys to some of the most heartbreaking places on Earth – from Rio’s City of God to the Peruvian Andes to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside – to connect with inspiring leaders who are effecting positive change in their local communities.

Vancouver’s Sol Guy, 4Real‘s producer and co-creator, joins a different celeb every episode. Executive producer Joaquin Phoenix will appear along with Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes, Casey Affleck, Mos Def and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (pictured with Guy) – each featured in separate 30-minute episodes.

MTV is backing the show on multiple platforms. Each week, full eps will be available on demand immediately following the broadcast at mtv.ca/think. Viewers can also visit 4REAL.com to find out how they can take action and promote positive change.

CTV SVP and GM of music and youth services Brad Schwartz says the series ‘inspires a call to action. It’s important to us to create content that has social currency and catalyzes our viewers’ conversations. A series like 4Real gives young people the knowledge and tools to promote change effectively.’

4Real will also air on National Geographic channels around the world. The original Canadian production will be seen in 166 countries in 53 different languages.
