A celebration of greasy spoons and tasty shed-like hotspots, tips on barbecue cookin’ or a low-key brunch, and the established Kitchen Nightmares are new to the Food Network’s sked when it launches a spring programming slate on March 24. Will the momentum of success keep the Canwest net cookin’ with viewers?
This past fall, the net Food Network saw 40% audience growth (BBM/NMR Total Canada Mo-Su 6a-6a AMA Fall 2006 10/02/2006-12/31/2006, Fall 2007= 10/01/2007-12/30/2007). It also became the number six most-watched destination for women 25-54 among Canadian English established specialty networks (BBM/NMR. Women 25-54. Mon-Sun 6am-6am. 8/27/07-12/30/07).
New shows on the Food sked include: Fresh With Anna Olson, a 26-ep Canadian series that gives viewers the ingredients to prep recipes for anything from a BBQ to brunch (Mondays at 6:30 pm ET beginning March 24); Kitchen Nightmares, the net’s premiere of the established show with famed chef Gordon Ramsey (Tuesdays at 10 pm ET beginning March 25); Down Home with The Neelys, a show featuring the family owners and operators of barbecue restaurants in Tennessee sharing the secrets of their dishes (Fridays at 1:30 pm ET beginning March 28); and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, a celebration of greasy spoons hosted by Guy Fieri (Fridays at 10 pm ET beginning March 28).
Returning series include: Dinner: Impossible (season three, Wednesdays at 10 pm ET beginning March 26 – pictured), French Food At Home (season two, Tuesdays at 6 pm ET beginning April 1), and Eat, Shrink & Be Merry (season two, Saturdays at 7:30 pm ET beginning April 5).
