ADCC Directions Awards handed out

Taxi and Lowe Roche won gold for Interactive Media, Lowe Roche took Multiple Media gold, and the Innovative category top prize went to O&M's 'Evolution.'

The Advertising & Design Club of Canada recognized Canadian talent last Thursday night with the 58th annual Directions awards show in Toronto. With judging by an international panel, 330 awards were handed out for exceptional work in the areas of advertising, interactive media and graphic design.

To the surprise of no one, in the Advertising Innovative/Non-Traditional category, the gold went to Ogilvy & Mather’s ‘Evolution’ work for client Unilever Canada, which also won gold in the Broadcast Crafts – Editing category.

In the Multiple Media category, the gold award went to Lowe Roche for their ‘Traps’ campaign for Stella Artois.

In the Interactive Media category, Taxi Montreal won gold for its website ‘Rail Europe Journey’ for client Rail Europe, and Lowe Roche for its ‘Push to Start’ for Nokia Canada.

In the Advertising Broadcast category, gold went to BBDO Canada for ‘Stairs/Bus/Bad Dog’ and the single ‘Stairs,’ both for Parmalat Canada; Lowe Roche’s ‘Destiny’ for Stella Artois; Draft FCB, Toronto’s ‘Beautiful Day’ for the WWF; DDB Canada Toronto for ‘Gardening Tips/Decorating Tips/Housekeeping Tips’ and the single ‘Gardening Tips’ for Philips Canada; and TBWA Toronto’s ‘Bicycle’ for Skittles.

In the Advertising Print category, gold went to Rethink for their campaign ‘Alarm/Blender/Slingshot’ and for single entries ‘Blender’ and ‘Boomerang,’ all for Playland; and Trigger Communications for ‘Zoo School – Croc/Lions/Bear’ and ‘Zoo School – Croc’ for the Calgary Zoo.

The Michael O’Reilly Best Copywriting Award went to DDB Canada Toronto for their radio campaign for Philips Canada entitled ‘Gardening Tips/Decorating Tips/Housekeeping Tips.’

Gold for the Hungry-man student competition was awarded to Jan Drewniak and Beau Turner from the Ontario College of Art and Design for their entry ‘The Hunger for More.’
