It may be cold outside but things are heating up with the latest PPM radio ratings. Today’s radio release from BBM completes the 13-week period covering Aug. 30 to Nov. 28. This marks the fifth such period in the new era of measurement for Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers.
Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CHFI-FM with a 12.7% share of hours tuned for adults 12+ (up from 12.4% last time out) followed by CHUM-FM at 9.4% (down from 10.2%) and BOOM-FM with a 9.2% (down from 10.4%) . Office favourite CHUM-FM leads the way for females 25 to 54 with a 16.7% share (down from 17.8%) followed by another office station CHFI-FM with 14.2% share (up from 13.7%). Q107 is on top for males 25 to 54, posting a 13.7% share (down from 14.3% in the last 13 week book). The Edge held their #1 slot with males 18 to 34 turning in an 18.8% share (up from 16.4%). For females 18 to 34, CHUM-FM tops the list posting a 15.2% share of hours tuned. (Editor’s note: This section and its corresponding chart has been corrected from its original version. Vancouver: CKNW holds the #1 spot for A12+ with a 12.4% share of hours tuned (down from 12.5% last time out). JACK-FM remains strong, taking the top spot for females 25 to 54 with a 13.6% share (up from 12.9%) followed by perennial office station 103.5 QM-FM which posted a 12.2% share (flat with last book) and The Beat with a 12.2% share (up from 10.1%). The Beat leads the way with male 25-to-54 listeners, delivering a 10.9% share (up from 9.3%). Rock 101 has been experiencing significant declines, dropping from an 8.5% share to a 5% share in its core demo of males 25 to 54. The Beat tops the list for males 18 to 34 with 20.2% share of hours tuned (up from 16.7%). When it comes to females 18 to 34, the Beat also takes top spot with a 20.5% share (up from 15.7%).
Edmonton: 630 CHED rules the roost for A12+ posting a 10.2% share of hours tuned (down from 10.7% in the last book). Newcomer NOW! takes top spot for females 25 to 54, delivering an 11% share (down from 11.9%). The Bear continues to top the list for males 25 to 54 with a 12.5% share (down from 12.8%). For males 18 to 34, NOW! is out in front with a 16.3% share.
Calgary: QR77 leads the way for A12+ with a 10.2% share (up from 9.9%). XL103FM is popular with the ladies, taking the #1 spot for F25-54, delivering an 11.5% share (up from 9.4). They are closely followed by 98.5 Virgin with 10.8% (up from 10.7%). For males 25 to 54, JACK-FM leads the way with a 9.7% share (down from 12.7%) followed by X92.9 with a 9.2% share (up from 7.4%). X92.9 also takes top spot for males 18 to 34, posting a 13.8% share.
