Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen – Feb. 26-March 4.
Monday: CTV’s CSI: Miami took the highest numbers of the night, an average 2.393 million viewers, in the 10 pm time slot – down from 2.586 the previous week. The net’s Corner Gas took second with 1.741 million, in the 8 pm time slot – a quarter-million boost from the previous week as the season nears its end. Global’s Prison Break hovered at about half a million less than that, averaging 1.294 million in the 8 pm time slot. Global got the 9 pm time slot again with an average 1.36 million viewers watching 24, down from 1.53 million on the previous Top 30 chart.
Tuesday: CTV’s American Idol captured 2.51 million in the 8 pm time slot, winning the number one spot on the Top 30 despite the continued trend of dropping viewership (from 3.153 million to 2.521 million on previous charts). The net’s Law & Order: SVU took the 10 pm time slot again, with 2.143 million – a big jump from the previous week’s 1.786 million. Global’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? earned an average audience of 1.313 million viewers for the 9:30 pm time slot, from Tuesday to Thursday.
Wednesday: CTV’s American Idol took second spot on the Top 30 and the 8 pm time slot for the night with 2.477 million viewers, down from 2.533 million on the previous national chart. The net used Lost as a lead-in at 7 pm, and the show took in 1.024 million, consistent with the previous week. The third spot on this week’s Top 30 also went to CTV’s CSI: New York, although the show’s 10 pm audience average fell again to 2.413 million viewers, continuing a drop from 3.3 million to 2.517 million in previous weeks. And the CBC’s Little Mosque on the Prairie, in the 8 pm time slot, averaged 1.001 million viewers.
Thursday: Global’s Survivor: Fiji has officially won the prime time Thursday crown on this week’s Top 30. The show, in the 8 pm time slot, averaged 2.251 million viewers, beating CTV’s American Idol Special (which got 2.171 million). CTV’s CSI, in the 9 pm time slot, has traditionally taken the night’s top numbers. On this Top 30 CSI (which was a repeat) got 2.138 million, down from 2.829 million on the previous charts, against Global’s Deal or No Deal, which got 1.715 million. CTV won the 10 pm time slot with an average 1.389 million viewers tuning in for Criminal Minds.
Friday: CTV’s Ghost Whisperer reigned champ with the highest Friday night numbers, an average 1.121 million viewers in the 8 pm time slot, yet down more than half a million from the previous week. The net’s Law & Order won the 10 pm time slot again with 1.118 million viewers, another significant drop from 1.412 million the previous week. And the 9 pm time slot went to Global’s Las Vegas, which averaged 1.018 million.
Saturday: CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada – Game One – averaged 1.173 million viewers, airing from 7 pm to 10:02 pm. That’s down from 1.321 million the previous week, and 1.708 million one week earlier. CTV’s Law & Order: CI raked in 1.103 million in the 10 pm time slot.
Sunday: CTV’s Desperate Housewives ranked number nine on the Top 30, earning an average 2.055 million viewers in the 9 pm time slot to win Sunday night’s prime time. The net’s Amazing Race ranked just below it, measuring 1.935 million viewers in the 8 pm time slot. The 7 pm time slot saw 1.413 million tuning in for CTV’s Cold Case.
