CHUM Radio is launching a new multiplatform rock radio show, starting tonight, called The Sound Lounge. The show’s format serves up in-studio performances, pop culture news, contests and interviews. But CHUM is also offering interactive features that enable listeners to define the actual programming by voting for their favourite songs at www.soundlounge.fm. Listeners can also connect to the show’s host and guests via text messaging and an online message board.
Options available for marketers in The Sound Lounge include traditional 30-second and 60-second ads, title sponsorship, and product placement (on-air and online). Some online ads may be centered around a promotion, while others allow interaction with the show’s real time audience. Advertisers are also able to post messages at the site about concert tickets, in-store promos or other offers. The radio show itself will be promoted through on-air interviews, radio spots and online at CHUM.
The show is led by 104.5 CHUM FM’s Cory Kimm, who currently hosts The CHUM Chart on CHUM radio and Citytv stations across Canada, along with Friday Night Live, CHUM FM’s weekly club party show. As host of The Sound Lounge, Kimm will welcome in-show guests such as Blue October, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Mobile, Katharine McPhee and Avril Lavigne. The show will hit the night-time listening markets in Victoria, Winnipeg, Brockville, Kingston, Toronto, Halifax, and CHUM Radio’s soon-to-be-launched Calgary radio station.
The show broadcasts live from Monday to Friday on: 104.5 CHUM FM in Toronto from 7 pm-11 pm (7 pm-10 pm EST on Friday); 98.3 FLY FM in Kingston from 7 pm-11 pm (7 pm-10 pm EST on Friday); 104.9 JR FM in Brockville from 7 pm-11pm (7 pm-10 pm EST on Friday); Q94 FM Winnipeg from 6 pm-10 pm (6 pm-9 pm CST on Friday); 107.3 KOOL FM in Victoria from 6 pm-10 pm PST; and C100 FM in Halifax from 9 pm-11 pm AST.
