Toronto-based EcoMedia has signed a deal to provide SilverBox recycling units, with ad space, to 18 college and university residences in Ontario and BC. With their established inventory, that brings the company to 30 campuses.
The bins will be outside residences run by Campus Living Centres of Canada (CLC).
With the new agreement, which is for five years with an option to extend another five, EcoMedia has 85 bins on campuses in Ontario and BC. The company also provides bins to the schools of the Toronto District School Board, Erich Genseberger, CEO, EcoMedia, tells MiC.
‘We offer advertising that reaches 18- to 24-year-olds,’ he says. ‘It gives a golden opportunity for companies that are looking for that demographic.’
The ad opps include the front 60×30 board and a wrap option. In the year-and-a-half since EcoMedia arrived on campuses, companies such as Pizza Nova and Mountain Equipment Co-op have utilized the bin ads.
The company also supplies municipalities in Ontario and BC with the bins, and the new agreement, with its extension onto BC campuses, is a step towards growing across the country, says Genseberger.
‘We want to establish a strong base in BC,’ he says. ‘The idea is to offer the big national giants the opportunity to go nationwide.’
EcoMedia was founded in 1997 and was purchased by Genseberger in 2007.
