CanWest MediaWorks is in the throes of an extreme makeover, part and parcel of which entails adding new roles to ensure all the bases are covered in meeting customers’ changing needs, and with an end goal of delivering on the overall growth strategy of CanWest Global. In order to execute this mandate, Joseph Mangione, president of sales and marketing, has let go several sales and marketing execs, promoted 10 staffers, hired three, and is not yet finished the re-org, as more new execs are yet to be announced including an SVP of broadcast sales.
New additions to the organization include Catherine Bridgman as SVP Marketing Ventures. Bridgman has a 25-year media career spanning research, trade and consumer publishing, entertainment marketing and brand development, most recently at CB Media. Prior to that she was with Tribute Entertainment Media Group, Quebecor Media Sales and MIC parent co. Brunico Communications. Also new to the fold is Gaye McDonald, the new VP Marketing Ventures. McDonald has over 20 years of experience in broadcast/network TV, sponsorship, advertising and sports & event marketing, most recently with Capital Canada. Trevor Bain comes aboard as VP and GM, bringing 20 years of global experience in identifying strategic opportunities at organizations such as Digital Equipment Corporation (Hong Kong), Kasten Chase Applied Research and Sect.
The 10 promoted staffers are as follows: Brett Manlove, VP local sales; Lori Legault, VP/GM of sales and marketing and specialty television; Kevin Bent, SVP publishing; Kathy Gardner, SVP research and promotions; Brad Kubota, VP/GM of revenue management and paid programming; Jennifer Holgate, VP interactive; Robert Fraser, account director, paid programming; April Andreosso, director, promotions; and Linda Rummell, director, human resources.
Those leaving the company include: Ken Johnson, SVP of Global TV ad sales; Rosanne Caron, VP of integrated sales; Lynne Munro, VP of promotions; Gerry Tymon, VP of local sales and new media and Ron Clark, SVP of newspaper ad sales.
