Canpages integrates with GigPark social media
New acquisition connects advertisers to user recommendations.
Vancouver-HQ’d local search firm Canpages is acquiring online social media platform GigPark today. The platform allows users to find local businesses and services through recommendations from friends, and to make recommendations themselves.
The move allows Canpages to integrate the user recommendations from GigPark into its online local search platform, adding a social media layer to the offering for advertisers on its online and mobile products. The acquisition also allows Canpages to incorporate GigPark functionality into its ImmersiFind platform, the co’s licensed online search and SEO-enabled publishing technology, which is used by over 15 directory publishers globally, making Canpages the top online local search tech source.
Canpages president/CEO Olivier Vincent says the GigPark deal makes them the first local search and directories publisher in North America to ‘embrace social reccommendations in a relevant way.’ Canpages.ca’s gets over 3.5 million unique visitors a month. Its 84 publications reach over 8 million households and businesses across the country.
