It’s all Glee radio, all the time!
Monday April 12 is ‘Glee Day’ as Toronto radio station 103.9 Proud FM flips its music format for the day to devote itself to the songs that have helped catapult the Global TV program Glee into a top-rated hit.
Familiar classics like Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing,’ Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’ and John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ are just some of the chart-toppers that will be broadcast by the temporarily-christened GLEE-FM throughout the day, sung both by the original artists and Glee cast members as taken from the platinum CDs Glee: The Music Volumes 1 and 2 and the soon-to-be-released The Power of Madonna.
Cast interviews, behind-the-scenes info and hourly CD prize packs will also quicken the pulse of the most devoted Glee fan, or ‘Gleek,’ as will the grand prize: a trip for two to New York to see a date of the sold-out Glee U.S. concert tour.
The station will also broadcast online at GlobalTV.com/GleeFM throughout the day and feature special jingles and a performance by Global’s Glee street choir.
The fun starts at 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., and the launch will be supported by Global TV on-air promos, print ads, street teams, Facebook, Twitter and the microsite. Creative and media buys were handled in house by the Canwest creative agency and media strategy teams.
After a lengthy hiatus, Glee returns to Global on Tuesday, April 13 for a one-time-only 9:25 p.m. airing. Subsequent episodes will air regularly on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. commencing April 20.
