ZenithOptimedia of Toronto is making news around the world as recent co-winner of The Nestle Group global media business estimated at more than $1.5 billion U.S. The agency, which is a unit of France-based Publicis Groupe, splits the account with WPP-owned Group M of London, England.

The two winning agencies took part in the eight-month, 50-country process along with Universal McCann, an Interpublic agency.

ZenithOptimedia has had a long-standing relationship with Nestle Canada as its master media agency and has also been handling Nestle media duties in Asia and Germany. Group M was previously the U.K. AOR while Universal McCann handled media in the U.S.

Terri Tinella, senior VP of communications and marketing effectiveness at Nestle Canada, says, ‘As a participant in the global review process, we are extremely pleased with the outcome and look forward to continuing to work with ZenithOptimedia in its new capacity as our globally-aligned media partner.

Tinella says it hasn’t been decided how the globe will be split between ZenithOptimedia and Group M, but that talks are currently underway to divvy up the business on a country-by-country basis.
